Since 1952

About the club

Moccasin Flying Club is a non-profit social club of pilots and aviation enthusiasts based at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (KCHA).

Our history and purpose

The club was founded in 1952 by a group of Chattanooga aviators who wanted to keep flying affordable and sociable. More than seventy years later that is still the whole idea: members share the cost of a good airplane, look after it together, and enjoy the company of people who love to fly.

We are organized as a non-profit social club. The club is not a flight school and is not an FAA-certificated commercial operator — our aircraft is flown by members for their own personal, non-commercial flying, and flight instruction is arranged with our chief flight instructor.

Members range from newly certificated private pilots to airline captains and long-retired pilots who now hold social memberships. Everyone is welcome at the table.

Monthly meetings

We meet at Wilson Air Center, 932 Jubilee Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37421, at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Prospective members are encouraged to attend — it is the easiest way to meet the group and see the airplane.
